Our History

Organized in 1921 and federated in 1923, the Woman’s Club of Bellflower is the only club in its district that has a clubhouse. It is also the only clubhouse for any service organization in Bellflower that has been owned and operated continuously as a service club for over 85 years. Because of this clubhouse the club continues to flourish with increased membership due in part to the Tuesday friends’ group that sews, has luncheons, and plays dominoes while also increasing volunteer opportunities and visibility in the community through the various projects the club members embrace. The clubhouse is also home to several community non-profits which has increased membership and visibility as well. The city of Bellflower is six square miles with nearly 80,000 residents but continues to maintain a “Mayberry” tight knit community. The Woman’s Club of Bellflower and the Bellflower Chamber of Commerce worked closely together in the first 50 years prior to the incorporation of the city in 1957 and continues to maintain that relationship today. We are blessed to be in this community and work hard to be a blessing to the community.

Janna Enkhorn has been a member of the Bellflower Woman’s Club since 2019. She currently holds the title of Club President and has also held the position of Fundraising Chair. Some of the tasks she has accomplished since joining has been creating a brochure for the club, revising, printing and distributing the Yearbook, creating and distributing flyers for fundraisers and events, creating and maintaining the Club Facebook page and applying for Tax Exemption status for the property.

As Club President her theme is “Better Together” and her project for the Club is advocating for Foster Youth. Since her installation she has improved the appearance of the exterior of the Clubhouse with the help of club members and local businesses such as Serv Pro, The Gutter Guy and Arborite Tree & Landscape Services. She has collaborated with the community and businesses to provide hygiene kits to local foster youth and much needed car seats, highchairs, baby wipes, pull-ups and handmade quilts and blankets from the Mission Sewing Circle to Olive Crest Foster Family Agency. Additional collaboration continues with the Bellflower Chamber of Commerce and members for fun networking activities and future events.

Janna’s previous non-profit experience was with the Miss Bellflower Competition and has held the positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer. In 2009 she received the “Women who make a difference award” from the Soroptimists of Bellflower and was nominated for the Woman of the Year award for Senator Lowenthal.
Janna has been married for 20 years to Peter Enkhorn and they have 4 children, and 4 grandchildren. She works as a Certified Tax Preparer for Cloud CPA and is semi-retired. She has a Masters Degree in Social Work and a Masters Degree in Public Policy Administration. Her hobbies include container gardening, collecting salt and pepper shakers and baking. She loves Bellflower and enjoys collaborating with other organizations to help in the community!
